Competition

Thanks to everyone for entering the competition to win a smell-proof, poo-carrying dicky bag. The competition closed on 16 March 2025.

Three lucky winners were selected at random:

January winner – Nic and Rick and their two rescue dogs from Romania, called Lenny and Daisy.

February winner – June and her dog Baillie, a tri-coloured King Charles Spaniel who loves a cuddle.

March winner – Steph and her dog Larissa, a 3 year old blue roan cocker spaniel who is full of energy.

The dicky bag is lightweight, airtight, washable and leak proof. It can be attached to you or your dog and safely stores the poo until you find a bin or get home, with no more nasty niffs or strange looks! You can still get your hands on one of our poo-carrying bags — buy one by emailing Julie Owen. There are 3 sizes to choose from:

Small: £36 plus postage
Medium: £37.20 plus postage
Large: £38.40 plus postage

You can be part of our ‘pack’ and become a member of Devon Loves Dogs? It’s free and you get a goody bag!

Why bag it and bin it?

  • Dog poo contains bacteria that harms people, livestock, wildlife
    and other dogs.
  • Dog diets are high in protein. Poo left behind stops rare wildflowers
growing, so less birds and insects too.
  • Dog poo contains nutrients which upset the whole ecosystem. Grazing animals are recycling existing nutrients, not adding more.
  • Bagged dog poo left behind (even briefly) can be eaten by other dogs, grazing animals and wildlife.
  • Buy plastic free poo bags if you can or from recycled plastic = better for the environment.
  • Dispose of poo in dog bins, any public litter bins or your mixed waste bin at home.
