Fetch, fun and frolics at our birthday party!

Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Our friends enjoyed a pawsome birthday party recently as Devon Loves Dogs celebrated the second year of making new friends and furpals. Together we help to protect wildlife on our special conservation sites in South East Devon on the Pebblebed Heaths, the Exe Estuary and Dawlish Warren.

On Saturday 3rd August, 24 people and 19 dogs joined our #waggywalk from Warren car park to the Castle Festival Site on East Devon’s Pebblebed Heaths.

We welcomed old friends and new, people who had not walked with us before, several puppies and older dogs too – everyone got along famously together.

We played a big game of fetch, musical sit (without the music!) and dogs enjoyed delicious pupcakes. These were made (especially with dogs in mind) from flour, carrots, egg and honey with a cream cheese and dog biscuit topping. You can imagine how much slobbering there was!

Hoomans weren’t left out as they enjoyed tea and birthday cake too (without the dog treats). Furpals enjoyed a big game of splash in a lovely muddy puddle, great for cooling down after the excitement of the party.

Our friends played a crossbreed quiz, where they had to guess the name of the crossbreed from a photograph. Our winner was Bethan Veal who receives a free Dickie Bag as her prize. Bethan and her dog Oakley are regular waggy walkers. Dickie Bags are an easy way to carry dog deposits without any nasty niffs, until a dog bin is found. You can buy Dickie bags from Clinton Devon Estates by emailing

All the party goers went home tired but happy with a Devon Loves Dogs goodie bag with a Pebblebed car sticker and badge, a bonio, party hat, poo bags and dog treats.
