The winners of Devon Loves Dogs Competition have been announced!
Julie Owen, Devon Loves Dogs coordinator said:
“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who follows our Four Paws Code, especially to those who always ‘bag it and bin it’!
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition, which closed on 16 March 2025. I’ve been delighted to give dicky bags to our three lucky winners who were chosen at random.”
Meet Our Winners!
Nic and Rick – They are now the proud owners of a Dicky Bag for their two Romanian rescue dogs, Lenny and Daisy. These pups had a tough start in life—Lenny was abandoned on a snowy mountain at just five weeks old, and Daisy was left on the streets after her owner passed away. Now, they’re enjoying their best lives, exploring the outdoors. Lenny even wears the Dicky Bag as a mini backpack on his harness, making walks on Woolacombe Beach even easier!
June and Baillie – Baillie, a cuddly tri-coloured King Charles Spaniel, loves his walks in the East Devon countryside. His new Dicky Bag will make their outings more convenient by keeping things clean and hassle-free.
Steph and Larissa – Larissa, a lively three-year-old blue roan cocker spaniel, is full of energy and loves exploring Devon’s countryside and coastline—especially if there’s water involved! Her new Dicky Bag will be the perfect companion for all her outdoor adventures.
What is a Dicky Bag?
A Dicky Bag is a lightweight, smell-proof, and leak-proof container that makes carrying dog poo easy and discreet. It attaches to you or your dog lead, keeping your hands free until you find a bin. No more awkwardly carrying bags of poo on your walks!
Why It’s Important to ‘Bag It and Bin It’
Dog poo can be harmful to people, wildlife, and the environment. Here’s why responsible disposal matters:
✔️ It contains bacteria that can harm humans, livestock, and other dogs.
✔️ Leftover waste damages rare wildflowers, which impacts birds and insects.
✔️ Extra nutrients in dog poo disrupt natural ecosystems.
✔️ Even bagged poo left on the ground can be eaten by other animals.
Eco Tip: Try using plastic-free or recycled poo bags to help the environment! Always dispose of dog waste in designated dog bins, public litter bins, or your mixed waste bin at home.
