Waggy Walks return!

Thursday, June 10, 2021

We're delighted to announce that our Devon Loves Dogs Waggy Walks are returning later this month. These free, friendly, guided dog walks are set to resume as the government restrictions reduce and events can be planned once again.

These long awaited walks take place in a variety of different locations across South East Devon and are organised by Julie from Devon Loves Dogs who is joined by a site manager from the location of the walk. This ensures that we can run a safe guided walk, great fun for people and dogs and an opportunity to chat and find out more about the place where we're walking and how it is managed for people and wildlife.

Waggy Walks all follow the same format, we usually meet at 10am and walks last for between an hour and an hour and a half, depending on the group and how much chatting we do! All you need is clothing and footwear suitable for the terrain and weather, a dog, a lead and some poo bags. We choose walk locations that are fun for the dogs to sniff, explore and play and are mostly off lead. However, you will need to make sure your dog is on lead at the start and end of the walk and there may be times during the walk where we ask you to use a lead (livestock, wildlife disturbance, traffic etc).

Dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes are very welcome, it's a great opportunity for dogs to socialise in a group, and group walks are great for confidence building and sharing tips with other dog owners. If you're not sure how your dog will respond to being part of the pack, feel free to join us and hang at the back to see how your furry friend settles in - we usually find that once the walk is underway and the initial excitement has worn off they all settle down.

Due to the ongoing government restrictions you will be required to book a place for each walk, this is just so that we know how many people are attending. We will keep your contact details for 2 weeks from the date of the walk as required for track and trace and then these details will be disposed of securely.
